Brussels, 12 January 2021 - SPIE Belgium, the Belgian subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the fields of energy and communications, is proud to be involved in two new realisations : the future Quartier Bleu in Hasselt and PWC's next Belgian headquarters in Diegem.
Installation of HVAC equipment at Quartier Bleu
While SPIE Belgium is recognised for the services it provides for industrial customers, SPIE's Belgian subsidiary regularly works on a wider variety of contracts. In 2020, SPIE Belgium had the pleasure of participating in the residential project for the new Quartier Bleu in Hasselt, assuming responsibility for installing all the heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment for the residential buildings.
The Quartier Bleu is soon to become the ultimate meeting place in Hasselt. By bringing together apartment buildings, friendly restaurants and trendy shops, it offers an unparalleled experience. An ideal place to meet, shop and enjoy a meal with family and friends - all in a relaxed environment.

This project, carried out on behalf of Matexi, is perfectly in line with our vision: sustainability was a crucial element in the creation of the Quartier Bleu. It is therefore not surprising that a number of cutting-edge, particularly energy-efficient techniques were used for this operation. For its part, SPIE Belgium opted for geothermal energy, exploiting the energy present in the ground to heat and cool all its homes. The water required for geothermal installations comes directly from the canal.”
Fitting out PWC's new premises
In 2022, PwC will move to a brand new head office along the Cullinganlaan in Diegem. Developed by Ghelamco, it is destined to become a particularly visible building that can be seen from the Brussels Ring.
As the main occupant, PwC will have 22,400m², while the remaining 7,700m² will go to Ghelamco MeetDistrict, the collaborative workspace concept developed by the designer. Here too, SPIE Belgium will make its contribution. It will provide the entire HVAC installation, including climate-control ceilings, as well as the installation of the heat pumps. The building is due to be completed by next summer.
